Overview
Our partner operates in the urban slums on the outskirts of Yangon, Myanmar, where deepening poverty, military rule since February 2021, and the effects of COVID-19 have sharply increased human trafficking risks. The collapse of essential services has left families in extreme poverty and debt bondage, making children, young teens, and women particularly vulnerable. With 12 community centres in the most at-risk areas, our partner is well-positioned to deliver critical anti-trafficking awareness programs and conduct regular household visits. These efforts are complemented by support groups, which play a crucial role in reducing vulnerability and building resilience among individuals and families.
Why support this
Our partners are agile, hands-on, and experienced, dedicated to creating safe and holistic communities. They collaborate closely with other anti-trafficking organisations and community leaders to protect children and families, driving change in areas plagued by trafficking, gang violence, and poverty. We value their ability to identify effective strategies grounded in practical experience, and their commitment to involving volunteers from the slum communities in these efforts.
