Major disruptions to the world including the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, climate change and rising inflation have caused record levels of deprivation and unemployment, creating an unprecedented human crisis that is hitting the poorest hardest. It has disrupted billions of lives and endangered the global economy. Because of this, the number of people living in extreme poverty (less than $1.90 per day) is again rising after 25 years of steady decline. It is estimated that 75 million to 95 million additional people are now living in extreme poverty. Source World Bank 2022
