Overview

Dark Bali network, also known as the Indonesian anti-trafficking coalition, is comprised of about 80 organisations, many of whom serve survivors of trafficking directly. Dark Bali exists to connect and improve collaboration between the many grassroots anti trafficking organisations in Indonesia and is committed to seeking resources and creating training programs tailored to their needs. Whilst some of these organisations are fortunate enough to have counsellors on staff, the majority of these counsellors have general training in psychology, but very little deeper understanding of trauma. This project involves the training of 25-40 NGO staff in the ‘Integrated Somatic Expressive Arts for Trauma and Trafficking’ (ISEATT) Certification through Lotus Circle International.

Why support this

Currently, there is a lack of effective treatment intervention for Post Traumatic Stress. This project will ensure that a clinically effective, psycho-physiologically based mental health approach to trauma-informed care is available in Indonesia, significantly improving outcomes for survivors of human trafficking.

Budget

$39,000 for year 1 of a 2yr project. Total budget $78,000.

Objectives Include

  • Train 25-40 counsellors in trauma-informed care
  • Significantly improve life and health outcomes for survivors

Expected Life Change

  • Survivors of human trafficking have significantly improved life outcomes, with increased resilience and reduction of post-traumatic stress symptoms.
  • Improved care for survivors, with counsellors trained to understand trauma-informed care concepts and its clinical application for survivors of abuse, exploitation and trafficking. The training will help counsellors treat survivors and respond to their trauma symptoms and trauma-related behaviours with skill, sensitivity, care and effectiveness.
  • More awareness in the NGO community and society as a whole about the impact of trauma and the value of best practice care.
