Overview
Our partner works amongst ethnic minority hill tribes in Thailand near the borders of Laos and Myanmar, where generations have struggled with poverty exacerbated by opium cultivation and drug abuse. Over three years, the aim is to enhance villagers' health by providing clean water sources and hygiene education across six villages. Additionally, they are seeking to boost family income through awareness campaigns, provision of micro loans to expand income generation activities, community involvement, and improved agricultural practices, emphasising environmentally sustainable methods.
Why support this
Through empowerment, raising the standard of living, as well as building awareness to a changing society, our partners can encourage the long-term integration of the tribal groups into economic and social mainstreams so that they will become permanently settled and economically stable. Our partners will provide support for three years post-project completion and assist in addressing additional needs identified, such as schools, health facilities, micro-loans, and coffee production. Villagers will actively participate by contributing labour and sharing expenses for materials and supplies, ensuring their commitment to the process.
