Overview

This project will support vulnerable rural communities, particularly elderly individuals, women, and child-headed families by providing access to safe and easily accessible water sources. The project will also focus on equipping women and men with the necessary skills and tools to rehabilitate and maintain their own boreholes and bush pumps. This initiative is designed to promote long term sustainability and reduce their reliance on donor support. In the long run, the community members who receive training will be formally employable and empowered to contribute to their community’s well-being.

Why support this

Our partner has a strong track record and takes a multifaceted approach to health and hygiene. It focuses on community health and well-being through the provision of quality health education, clinical care and a focus on Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH). A strength is the emphasis on instilling a sense of ownership, partnership and empowerment through community engagement. The community provides the building materials which helps ensure the long-term maintenance of infrastructure. The project employs local technicians, helping to support the local economies, and trains community members.
