This project supports 42 teachers and provides educational materials for two schools serving about 450 students, many from displaced and refugee families along the Thai–Burma border. Despite ongoing civil war, severe resource shortages and recent bombings in the 2 villages, the initiative continues to strengthen education in these vulnerable communities. The project will also assist our partner to expand its successful Holistic Training and Development Course to reach 153 teachers. In partnership with the local Karen team, training will focus on program development, leadership, and child safeguarding. This locally led approach is cost‑effective, sustainable, and builds lasting capacity within the community despite the volatile environment.
Why support this
We are inspired by the community’s determination to build a better future despite extreme challenges. United by a strong belief in education as the key to lasting change, they prioritise their children’s learning despite minimal resources. Supporting teachers is vital to sustaining schools and improving outcomes, and the project is led by trusted local leaders with whom our partner works closely.
