Our partner operates in the urban slums on Yangon’s outskirts, where poverty and military rule since 2021 have sharply increased human trafficking risks. Trafficking often begins at home, driven by hunger, debt, or desperation forcing families into impossible decisions, including exchanging children to settle debts or cover urgent costs. Through community centres in the 12 most vulnerable neighbourhoods, the program delivers vital anti-trafficking education while supporting 100 high-risk families with urgent debt repayment, emergency food aid, family healing support, and ongoing home visits to build resilience. By combining awareness-raising with timely intervention, the initiative aims to prevent trafficking before it occurs, protecting children and families and helping communities reclaim their futures.
Why support this
Our partners are agile, practical, and deeply experienced, committed to building safe, holistic communities. They work closely with other anti‑trafficking organisations and local leaders to protect children and families, driving change in areas affected by trafficking, gang violence, and poverty. We value their skill in developing effective, experience‑based strategies and their dedication to engaging volunteers from within the slum communities to be part of these efforts.
