Overview

This project builds on more than a decade of experience supporting impoverished communities in Bali to improve access to clean water. Many villages continue to face significant challenges in accessing safe water, often relying on contaminated runoff from rice fields that becomes scarce during the dry season. The project will partner with four villages in the Buleleng district of North Bali, where geographical barriers and financial constraints limit reliable access to clean water. It also includes training in infrastructure maintenance to equip communities to manage and sustain these systems long term.

Our partner works hand-in-hand with local communities who are motivated to improve their living conditions, fostering strong ownership and participation throughout the project. Instead of applying a standardised model, each solution is tailored to reflect the specific context and needs of each village. A key focus is equipping community members with the skills to maintain and manage the infrastructure themselves, supporting long-term sustainability. Villagers also play an active role in implementation, contributing labour and locally available materials, demonstrating their commitment to creating lasting change.
