Our partner works with the Sasak communities of Lombok, among Indonesia’s most disadvantaged, to improve access to essential services through community-led initiatives, including water access, education, and disability support. A dedicated mobility team supports families affected by disability and will provide care knowledge to 180 new patients each year and follow-up support through 600 visits annually over three years. Where needed, therapeutic aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and physiotherapy equipment will be supplied.
Why support this
Our partner organisation has been active since 2013, with a strong record of delivering similar initiatives. Local specialists have benefited from prior physiotherapist-led training, gaining skills that continue to guide their work. Local partners are key in navigating cultural dynamics and supporting rural development. The project emphasises meaningful community engagement, with villagers working alongside the team. This hands-on involvement builds confidence, fosters shared achievement, and strengthens community ownership - crucial for long-term sustainability.
