Overview
Our partner supports the Sasak people of Lombok, one of Indonesia’s poorest communities, by improving access to essential services through community-based initiatives. These include water projects, educational programs, and disability support. The mobility team assists underprivileged individuals with disabilities, providing education to 200 new families and follow-up support to 350 existing families on caring for their loved ones. As needed, free therapeutic aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and physiotherapy equipment will be distributed.
Why support this
Our partner has been operating since 2013, successfully implementing similar projects. This initiative places a strong focus on on-the-job training through a physiotherapist for local specialists, enhancing their skills and facilitating knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability. Local partners play a key role in addressing cultural challenges in rural community development. The project strongly emphasises community participation, encouraging villagers to work alongside our partners. This hands-on involvement fosters a sense of achievement and empowerment, which is crucial for ensuring local ownership and long-term sustainability.
