Overview
This education program serves three disadvantaged communities in west-central India. Local families in these slum areas are very poor which usually means that children do not receive an education. This project will ensure that children in these communities continue accessing quality education, providing them a pathway out of poverty, as well as having a positive impact on the entire community. Entrust will provide educational support for more than 750 underprivileged students. Health and Hygiene awareness for children and parents will also be conducted during the three year project period.
Why support this
Limited government schooling coupled with inconsistent teacher attendance, has led to low literacy rates in India, especially among girls. Establishing inclusive, high-quality English-medium schools is vital for providing new learning opportunities, and upgrading existing schools is crucial to supporting students progressing to higher grades. We love the passion of our partners to improve the lives of their families by establishing schools and appreciate their thoroughness in planning from the beginning to register the schools with the government.
Budget
$79,500 for year 1 of a 3yr project. Total budget $238,500.
Objectives Include
- English medium education for 750 slum children
- Capacity building for 45 teachers
