Overview

Our partner supports ethnic minority hill tribes in Thailand, near the borders of Laos and Myanmar, where poverty has persisted for generations due to opium cultivation and drug abuse. Over three years, the project aims to improve health by providing clean water and hygiene education in six villages. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen family incomes through awareness campaigns, microloans for income-generating activities, community engagement, and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices.

Why support this

By focusing on empowerment, improving living standards, and fostering awareness of a changing society, our partners aim to support the long-term integration of tribal communities into the economic and social mainstream. This will help them achieve permanent settlement and financial stability. Even after the project's three-year duration, our partners will continue providing support to address additional needs, including education, healthcare, micro-loans, and coffee production. To ensure ownership and sustainability, villagers will actively contribute through labor and cost-sharing for materials and supplies.

$34,000 for year 2 of a 3yr project. Total budget $102,000.
